- To train computer specialists in software development.
- To give employment opportunities in research and development positions in industrial research centres.

Benefits of the training

This training combines a teaching in software technologies among the most highly sought by the companies (J2E, Android) and advanced courses opening to research. The training includes a significant portion of training at project work.

Targeted skills

The formation gives skills in software engineering and managing IT projects. Advanced technologies can be learned (J2E, Android system). Many courses are delivered in the form of tutorials  and development projects. An opening to research is offered through optional courses. A project of introductory research is possible.

After the training

The professional outlets are broad, from development of applications to management of IT systems. The training can be followed by a Doctorate thesis within the doctoral school of UPEM.

Organization of the training and possible courses

The formation extends over 4 semesters, the first two are common to all the course types. The training can be followed in initial or continuing training as well as in apprenticeship.

Main disciplines

The training includes 120 ECTS (30 per semester) divided between the main following fields:
- Algorithmic and programming (java, cryptography, python and script languages…)
- Advanced programming (Java EE, embedded Java and Android, advanced C++, middleware…)
- IT project management
- English
- Mass data processing (parallel computing, databases for big data)
- Teaching innovation and research project

 Training options

In the first semester, an option among communication, Web 2.0, combinatorics, types and IT programming, operating reliability.

In the second semester, an option among data compression, knowledge of the companies, and professional script language.

In the 4th semester, a specialization (9 ECTS) is to be chosen among System, Big data, Geomatics, language Engineering, and Development of secure softwares.

Internationalization of the training

The training can be taken in the frame of ERASMUS programs in which the university takes part. This course is offered in partnership with the University of Palermo (Italy). Internships can be made abroad.

Professional integration

Professional integration is very fast. The students are often subsequently hired after their end of studies internship. The training can be followed in apprenticeship program which makes integration be immediate.

Research environment

The master’s degree is supported by the laboratory of Computer Science Gaspard Monge. This laboratory gathers about 70 permanent researchers and as many non permanent researchers, in fundamental and applied computer science, divided into five teams:
- Algorithms, architectures, image analysis and synthesis
- algebraic combinatorics and symbolic computation
- Software, networks and real time
- Models and algorithms
- Signal processing and communications.

The Software training widely relies on the Software, networks and real-time team.
